Prevention Program
The Prevention Program consists of two initiatives: CDC Routine Testing Program, which serves the entire Florida and Caribbean region; and Perinatal HIV Transmission Prevention Project, which serves Florida and is funded by the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of HIV/AIDS.
The HIV Testing Program offers training and technical assistance in implementing procedures for health care providers to conduct routine and rapid HIV testing within health care settings. The resources available include a testing pocket guide, slides, and links to websites that provide information on the prevention and treatment of HIV disease.
The Perinatal HIV Transmission Prevention Project is a program for health care professionals on the prevention and treatment of HIV transmission between mother and child. An essential component of the program is the distribution of educational materials to health care providers throughout the state that include: brochures, posters, a DVD, and on-line resources designed to inform providers and patients about the importance of HIV testing as a routine part of health care maintenance and the Florida law related to HIV/STD testing and reporting in pregnancy.
