Upcoming Events
AETC regional HIV/AIDS training events for physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, pharmacists, and other health professionals are listed for your convenience.

Annual Conference
This conference held each spring is designed to increase the knowledge and skills of HIV healthcare providers. Lectures and interactive case presentations will be supplemented by take-home materials including chart forms and treatment protocols. Distinct tracks will allow participants to customize their conference experience to best meet their professional needs.

Chart Review
The Chart Review program offers medical providers who receive Ryan White CARE Act funds an opportunity to determine how well standards of care are being met in their clinical practices. Using a team of specially-trained AETC faculty, a review of randomly selected patient charts is completed to identify the strengths of the health care team as well as areas of opportunity for quality improvement.

Case Conferences
HIV/AIDS Case conferences are held at community-based organizations and other locations throughout the region. Participants present their problematic cases for discussion by AETC faculty. State-of-the-art treatment consultation is provided and continuing education credit is available.

HIV Update
The AETC offers a video presentation which meets the AIDS educational requirements for licensing and license renewal for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, mental health and addictions professionals, and nursing home administrators.

Medical Spanish
This course is designed to introduce both non-Spanish speaking and limited Spanish speaking professionals to conversations that will assist in communicating with patients in a health care setting. Continuing education credits are available for this 30-hour, 10-week program. If you speak Spanish well, this course is not for you.

Developing Clinical Skills in HIV/AIDS
Clinical mini-residencies allow physicians to learn more about the diagnosis, early management, and ongoing treatment of HIV disease. This opportunity is also available to nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists in the form of preceptorships. Each training program is designed to meet the unique needs of the clinician and focuses on clinical issues.

Online Programs
The Florida/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) has initiated a new online training project. The first of these multimedia presentations is HIV and Tuberculosis. HIV and Dental Issues, developed at The University of Florida, is another recent addition.
