Join us on the afternoon of September 1st, 2010 at the Alachua County Health Department or online via web video conferencing for this annual HIV/AIDS Update. Topics include:
- Overview of HIV in Florida
- Update on the Clinical Management of HIV
- Motivating Positive Change, Improving Quality-of-Life for Our Patient Population
- Drug-Drug Interactions and Issues Related to TB Drugs in HIV Patients
Presented by: Florida/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center; Florida Department of Health, HIV/AIDS Program, Alachua County; Southeastern National Tuberculosis Center; and Suwannee River Area Health Education Center
Intended Audience: Physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, case managers, health educators, social workers, mental health counselors and other health professionals.

| 12:30-1:30 pm | Overview of HIV in Florida The speaker will discuss current policy issues that affect those infected with HIV in the state of Florida as well as those providing direct care and/or case management services for these patients. |
| 1:30-2:30 pm | Update on the Clinical Management of HIV The speaker will describe recent updates to the Department of Health and Human Services Guidelines for Use of Antiretroviral Agents in Adults and Adolescents as well as other important updates related to antiretroviral agents and managing patients with HIV infection. |

| 2:45-3:45 pm | Motivating Positive Change, Improving Quality-of-Life for Our Patient Population The speaker will describe motivational interviewing techniques that can be utilized to encourage patients with HIV to make important lifestyle and behavioral modifications to improve overall health. These changes may be aimed at a variety of desired outcomes including adherence to antiretroviral therapy, cessation of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco use, and risk reduction. |
| 3:45-4:45 pm | Drug - Drug Interactions and Issues Related to The speaker will identify the Tuberculosis and HIV drugs most commonly involved with drug-drug interactions. One and two-way interactions and their clinical consequences will be discussed. The basics of therapeutic drug monitoring will also be reviewed. |
