Keynote: Issues of the Aging HIV Population
R. Scott Braithwaite, MD, MSc, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of General Internal Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine, and a Staff Physician at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. Dr. Braithwaite received his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, received his MD from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington. He completed a research fellowship in Decision Analysis and Medical Decision Making at Tufts University, and received a Masters Degree in Clinical Research at the University of Pittsburgh. He is active in the Society for Medical Decision Making and recently chaired the scientific review committee for the 2007 national meeting.

John F. Toney, MD, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He is the Medical Director of the Florida Infectious Diseases Institute at USF College of Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease and International Medicine, and Director of Infectious Disease Clinical Research at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital. His research focuses on clinical STD/HIV therapeutics, investigational anti-infectives, and investigational vaccines. He is the founding and current Medical Director of the Southeast Region STD/HIV Prevention Training Center, one of the CDC National Network of STD/HIV Prevention Training Centers, and the Medical Director of the Florida Infectious Diseases Institute, also at the USF College of Medicine. He is a faculty member of the University of South Florida Center for HIV Education and Research, and a Faculty member of the Florida/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center. Dr. Toney is also Director of Healthcare Epidemiology at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, and the recent past President of the Florida Infectious Diseases Society.
