| Harm Reduction Strategies Topics discussed in this session will help practitioners identify harm reduction strategies that they can realistically plan, realistically communicate, realistically try, and realistically evaluate. The 10 steps in the process of harm reduction that have been identified by people living with HIV will be presented and discussed. |

Role of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Inhibitory Quotient in Optimizing Antiretroviral Therapy During this session, the potential roles of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) will be discussed (e.g. pregnancy, drug interactions, others). The session will also provide a detailed review of the inhibitory quotient (IQ) and the potential role of TDM and IQ in optimizing therapy in treatment-experienced patients.

Resistance Case Studies This session is intended for the practitioner who is familiar with the fundamentals of resistance testing including some of the common resistance mutations. The faculty panel will review several resistance testing cases and discuss the pros and cons of different options for subsequent regimens. Participants are encouraged to bring their own challenging resistance cases for discussion. |

Emerging Issues in HIV: MRSA Skin Infections An overview of treatment and treatment issues in HIV-infected patients will be presented during this session. Recommendations for a specific (evidence-based) decolonization protocol (including when, what, and how) will also be covered. HIV Prophylaxis - From P to Pre Decreases in HIV transmission have been associated with antiretroviral treatment in a number of circumstances, including occupational exposure primarily through contaminated needles and sharps, sexual transmission, and mother to child transmission. This session will review information and guidelines regarding HIV post-exposure prophylaxis both occupational (Post-Exposure - PEP) and non-occupational (sex or contaminated injection equipment - nPEP), as well as the developing body of knowledge and investigation of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). |
Emerging Issues in STDs New information on syphilis, LGV, Quinolone-resistant ghonorrhea, screening for genital herpes and the relationship with HIV transmission, and a varicella zoster vaccine will be presented during this session. |
Highlights of Recent Conferences In this session the major points from the recent national and international AIDS Meetings (ICAAC, IDSA, HIVMA, the International AIDS Conference and CROI) will be reviewed. A discussion of how these findings will impact your clinical practice in 2007 and beyond will also be included. |
Emerging Therapies (Track:- Medication/Pharmacy- Related Topics) This session will present emerging efforts to boost host immunity to HIV, and areas for development of pharmacologic interventions. These include strategies for improving outcomes as well as new technology. Vaccine efforts and cytokine interventions will be discussed. Aptamer therapy and a potential role in HIV therapeutic intervention will be explored. |
