Continuing Education
Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Analyze the role, uses, and complications of antiretroviral therapy as a treatment
option according to DHHS Guidelines and peer reviewed literature;
- Consider age and gender issues when determining appropriate HIV care;
- Identify and treat HIV disease complications;
- Utilize resources and standard of care protocols that can be immediately applied
to clinical practice;
- Effectively treat and manage co-morbid conditions in the primary care setting;
- Relate regional-specific information about HIV testing, confidentiality, and access
to medical care.
Audience:
This event is specifically created to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the needs of the following professionals providing HIV care:
• Physicians
• Physician Assistants
• Nurse Practitioners
• Nurses
• Clinical Pharmacists
• Medical Case Managers

Physicians:
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of USF Health and the Florida/Caribbean AETC. USF Health is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
USF Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 13 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nursing:
The University of South Florida College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This activity is for 13 contact hours.
Pharmacy:
The University of South Florida College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program has been approved for 13 contact hours. Universal activity number is as follows: 0230-9999-11-023-L01-P.
To receive continuing education credit, a pharmacist must attend the accredited sessions and must return the program evaluation instrument. In order to receive full credit, registrants must register no later than 10 minutes after the start of the meeting and must attend the entire meeting.
All participants who are requesting Pharmacy Credit should expect to receive their statement of credit either on-site or within 4 weeks by U.S. Mail upon the conclusion of the activity.
Psychologists:
USF Health is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. USF Health maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This activity is for 13 contact hours.
Florida Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists,
and Mental Health Counselors**:
USF Health is an approved provider (BAP#433 - Exp. 3/31/11 [will be renewed prior to expiring]) of continuing education credits for clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, and mental health counseling. This program has been reviewed and approved for up to 15.5, 50-minute contact hours.
** Non-Florida licensees may use the USF certificate to apply for credit through their state board.
